Riding the car

This picture is a little blurry, but I love how he is concentrating on his little car. He loves that hood in the front. Yesterday, I noticed that he had put one of his little toy cows in there. The head was peeking out. I should have taken a picture of that!

Sesame Street

We are not watching much TV yet, but for maybe 20 minutes or so we will sit down and watch some Sesame Street. I got a couple of videos from Netflix and they are Sesame Street Songs. Currently Davey loves “Do the Duck” as sung by Ernie and friends. He also likes “Operatic Lullaby” as sung by Denyce Graves and a large muppet ensemble to Elmo as he tries to go to sleep. David and I like “Between” sung by Wayne Brady. I think we like that one more that Davey does. 🙂

November 21st

Davey has been getting a lot of wear out of this red vest. Michael and Holly sent it to him for his birthday. I love it. It’s perfect for carseat wear. Here I took a picture of Davey enjoying some “snacks” and “ahhhhhh”. He says a word that is across between snacks, and nax. We are still having a bit of a time trying to get him to drink out of his sippy cup. When we can get him to drink from his cup, he will often take a big drink and then let out a big “AHHHHHHHHHHH”. Apparently Daddy does this frequently after taking a drink – (I guess I don’t even notice this anymore after more than 20 years. :)), and Davey picked right up on it!

First birthday – a little late blogging about it!

I realized that I have not yet scrapped or blogged about Davey's first birthday. We had a great party! Jerry and Janis were kind enough to let us have the party at their house, as it would have been too crowded over here! We had about 20 people over. Davey had a good time. He played in the leaves with Mom, and he enjoyed trying to get involved in the cornhole games going on. He received many great gifts.

We got two cakes: a chocolate cake and a white cake. David was worried that the 1/4 sheet I ordered would not be enough. It probably would not have been so we had a chocolate one made real quick and David picked it up in Arkadelphia. I thought it was odd that the lady helping me order it over the phone was asking me how to spell Davey numerous times – and then I understood why when we got the cake which said "Happy Birthday Dazey". Yes Dazey – it's a common derivative of David – easy mistake to make. 🙂 I will post a picture of that chocolate cake which David attempted to adjust back to "Davey".

We were not going to offer Davey the chance to do the whole squish the cake and stuff it in his mouth thing, but then I picked up a piece of chocolate cake while I was holding him, and before I knew it, he was having a good old time with it!

It was a fun day – the weather could not have been more perfect on a November day. 70s and sunny!

We were happy that Memaw Lucy was there too. And Mama Mutt! We were thankful for all of our guests who came to celebrate Davey!

Books and Diaper Removal

Book

Davey loves his books.  Lately he brings us one after another to read to him.  He can be a little like me listening to my old 80s music.  (I like to start a song, listen to it for about a minute, and then move onto the next one. :))  Usually though he wants to sit through the whole book – tucked nicely in my lap (or in David's). (He is tucked in our lap – not the book.  Lazy writing on my part.)

Today we went to McDonald's.  He had his first Happy Meal.  Well technically I suppose.  He probably ate about 1/2 of a chicken nugget.  He loved his little Madagascar 2 hippo toy though.  He also loved watching two little boys sitting by us.  (They were probably 6 and 4 or something close to that.)  I was wishing I had a little point and shoot to carry in my purse.  I love my Canon – but it's unwieldy to carry around to capture moments like first Happy Meals!

We just got home from Hot Springs and David changed his diaper.  He was getting ready to take a nap, so David was letting him run around in his diaper.  I guess he figured out how to remove the diaper, because he yanked it right off!
