Almost 13 weeks

Davey is starting to grab for things a little.  He holds on to his burp cloth, a little toy that hangs from his carseat, his bib.

I bought him this little floor gym type thing today.  I don’t really know what they are called.  He lays on his back and plays with dangling things from over his head.  It also is good for tummy time.  Anything to improve tummy time.  He is NOT a fan.  He loves the new floor thing though.

He is drinking 6 ounces at a time, and I just gave him a bottle at 4am.  He’d gone since 9pm!  Yay Little Davey!

He’s rather serious here:

Scrapbooking

I have been getting back into scrapbooking when I have a little extra time.  Naps are good for this.  Beats doing laundry any day! 🙂  I am enjoying 8.5×11 and today I did a layout – the first one maybe since Davey was born where he is nowhere to be found. 🙂

12 Weeks Old

Today Davey is 12 weeks old!  Not three months old, but 12 weeks.  That always confused me until I realized I needed to quit thinking of months always having four weeks.  They don’t!  So now that I have that out of my head, he is 12 weeks old and will be 3 months old on Feb. 3rd.  Yes, I have wasted valuable brain cells considering this issue. 🙂

A little bit of snow

We had snow this morning.  It fell really nicely for about half an hour.  We loved it!  We always like to see our Husky in the snow.  He has not gotten to experience it very often, which is a shame, but as usual he had a good time today.  David took a beautiful picture of Koko in the snow.  I have to share it:

Still

I have not had alot of time to scrapbook, but when I do – my goal this year is to try to do more challenges and enter these different contests that you find on the various scrapbooking sites.  I figure it will challenge me to think about scrapping in different ways and will help me become more creative.

So the very first challenge ever that I entered is the one little word challenge – the word for this time is "Still".  So I did this layout – I am not completely happy with it, but it’s ok (any layout that includes a picture of Davey has to be at least ok!):

I like my hat, I like my blue blue hat…

I have not posted in awhile (obviously).  I have been putting up bunches of pictures on flickr and videos on you tube so I have not been as inspired to post here.  I thought about just getting rid of the blog, but I am going to try to post a little more consistently and see how I like it.

Our friend Cindy brought Davey the cutest blue knit hat from Maine.

I have been watching Davey’s hair grow for the past few days.  I swear if we had time lapse photography we could watch significant growth over the last 48 hours.  🙂

Michael and Holly Marathon Weekend

This weekend Michael and Holly flew down to visit us.  On Friday evening Michael and David went to Memphis, and on Saturday they ran the Memphis marathon.  It was David’s second marathon and he did it 35 minutes faster than his first one!

Holly and I had fun with the baby while they were gone.  I made the mistake of letting him sleep on the couch with me for almost 5 hours on Friday night while we watched a movie and some tv.  That made for abit of a rough night after that, but Holly helped us make our way through it.

I really like this picture of David.  He is three weeks old – which is hard for me to believe.  I can hear him right now on the monitor.  He should be going back to sleep after having just eaten, but I think he’s not too sleepy at the moment.

I realized that for us every day is like Christmas Eve with him.  There’s always that anticipation and excitement about what will happen in the next day or week with him.  It’s pretty fun.

Thanksgiving and Notes on Davey

Today we had a great Thanksgiving.  It was great to have Johnny, Sara and Adilyn here.  Of course we are so thankful for Little Davey.  I think he had a pretty good Thanksgiving.  He didn’t get to eat much turkey, but I think he had fun meeting his uncle, aunt and cousin.

Davey has changed alot just in the last week.  Everyone keeps telling me "it goes by so fast".  I can believe this now when I look at his one week old picture compared to his two week old picture.  Seems like he changed so much in just a week.

His umbilical cord fell off this week.  On Monday night, his umbilical cord was hanging just by a thread.  It looked all raw underneath where it was falling off.  We didn’t know exactly what to do so I called the pediatric triage nurse at the pediatrician.   I admit that when I heard it might be an hour before she called back, I then called the nursery nurse at the hospital.  They have gotten a couple of calls from us before, and they have been very patient and helpful with us newbies.  Turns out they both gave the same advice:  put alcohol on it – he has no nerve endings there where the cord was coming off.  I didn’t know that.  And then let the cord fall off – which it did the very next day.

He likes to try to hold onto the bottle himself now sometimes.  It’s cute to see his little hand up there.

He’s so much more wiggly and alert every day.

Settling in

We have had a great week with little David.  He went to the pediatrician for the first time and that went well.  We took him for his first ride in his stroller – I think he liked that.  Today we are hoping to take some pictures of him in the fall leaves.

I discovered flickr over the weekend.  It’s going to be such an easy way to post a bunch of pictures and share them.  It may be easier than the blog, but I will try both for awhile.
Here’s David on November 10th – when he was one week old.

Lots of pictures of him can be found on http://www.flickr.com/photos/cpeezers.
